The Bryan-College Station Chamber of Commerce and Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central Texas invite you to attend a Deluxe Ribbon Cutting Ceremony honoring the Healing Hearts Memory Garden at St. Thomas Episcopal Church, on Thursday, July 28 from 4:30-5:30pm.
Since 1993, RMHC CTX has helped families who have lost children due to illness or injury. Suffering the loss of a child is a devastating sorrow. At times, families faced with this tragic loss do not have the financial means to cover the cost of properly interring their child. Through their Healing Hearts program, families are provided burial assistance to help ease the financial burden.
Helping Families Cope
In the Brazos Valley, RMHC CTX works with certified bereavement counselors from Hospice Brazos Valley, and Mending Hearts Grief Center.
Honoring the Lives of Children in our Memory Garden
To honor the life of the child, RMHC CTX presents families who have stayed at the Ronald McDonald House and Ronald McDonald Family Rooms or who have participated in the bereavement support group with an engraved river rock. The rocks are placed in a tranquil memory garden at the Ronald McDonald House in Austin and at the Rose Garden at St. Thomas Episcopal Church in College Station, Texas. Families are always welcome to visit their child’s stone at both locations. We are deeply grateful to Carved Stone, Inc. in Dripping Springs, Texas, for engraving and donating these memory garden stones for our families.
For more information on how to apply for burial assistance funds on behalf of families, contact a hospital social worker or chaplain where the child was receiving treatment. If the child passed at home, please contact the local police department’s victim services representative for information on the application process.
