Inside the Barracks: Exploring the New Cavalry Court Hotel

Think of this like your basic training for College Station’s newest boutique hotel, a military-inspired escape right next to Texas A&M. No need to stand at attention, though; it’s all about staying at ease at this luxury offering from Valencia Group.

Celebrating rich Texas A&M traditions, the new 141-room Cavalry Court is an extension of Valencia Group’s court brand, which features boutique hotels with retro decor and modern amenities. Here’s how early military design was used to create a chic Century Square space just a short walk from the heart of campus.

Cavalry Court’s Retro Military Inspiration

Balcony-equipped guest rooms and suites are classified as barracks and officers’ quarters, although don’t expect metal military bunks. Instead, you’ll find plush beds, fully stocked Smeg refrigerators, and comfy robes that will make you forget all about formal wear.

Thematic Design

The buildings and aesthetics of Cavalry Court also incorporate the military stylings. The hotel’s use of corrugated metal and vintage brick makes a bold statement under the big Texas sky, whereas the courtyard’s fully furnished pool cabanas are arranged in a grid-like pattern to resemble field tents.

The Canteen

Much like military bases, dining at Cavalry Court’s Canteen Bar & Grill is a communal experience…albeit one that skips the food trays in favor of plated gourmet Texas cuisine and an extensive craft cocktail menu.

Tack Shack

The name of Cavalry Court’s food trailer, which serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner, is a nod to Texas A&M Corps of Cadets’ Parsons Mounted Cavalry, as a tack shack is a store that equips and fuels horseback adventures.

No Shortage of Aggie Pride

A number of Texas A&M sports complexes, including Kyle Field and the university’s golf course, and some of the best local businesses College Station has to offer are within a short walk from the hotel. It all means if you’re coming in for a game and looking for a hotel near Kyle Field or just generally searching College Station hotels for a place that provides more of an experience, not just a bed for the night, then reveille may be calling at Cavalry Court.
